Description
Timeline in waterfall format that displays the evolution of Life on Earth, starting from the Eukaryotes, cells with ‘enclosed nucleus’, to amphibians, reptiles, mammals and modern humans. A full, interactive phylogenetics chart is shown. It includes 92 evolutionary steps that link the simplest cells to modern individuals, like Darwin and yourself.
Each evolutionary step has it’s own taxonomical rank, such as kingdom, phylum, order, clade, family, subfamily and more. The latin scientific names in each step in the Tree of Life come with an English translation. For instance ‘tetrapoda’, which means with ‘four legs’.
The main evolutionary breakthroughs are highlighted, such as the emergence of metazoans (multicellular animals ‘with tissues’) and the emergence of vertebrates (animals with skeleton and ‘spinal chord’).
Excellent timeline to learn about biology and the Theory of Evolution.
For each event, links are provided to access online articles, primary sources and related history timelines.
